Job Description:
This position is part of The John F Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. The incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Director of Operations & Maintenance and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) staff and coordinating a wide variety of administrative, technical, and program duties essential to support area and field office operations.
At the GS-9 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience in performing a wide range of administrative and management support functions to ensure organizational efficiency. Assisting with budget formulation, monitoring, tracking, and providing financial reports. Assisting with preparing procurement requests. Serving as a point of contact for stakeholders; preparing correspondence, reports, and briefing materials; coordinating meetings; and maintaining official records. OR B. A Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.B. or J.D., if related (Note: Applicants who select this response must provide transcripts as verification of their education). OR C. A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as defined above which equals 100%. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Primary timekeeper for the office, ensures the accurate and timely processing of employee time and attendance records via the timekeeping payroll system. Supports office operations by processing a wide range of administrative and technical tasks, such as compiling and gathering pertinent information and required signatures for awards and suggestions submitted by employees or management for approval. Develops and maintains a comprehensive records management system to ensure timely identification, categorization, maintenance, retrieval, and proper disposition of federal records in accordance with agency and NARA retention schedules. Answers phones, schedules meetings, and prepares official correspondence and reports. Maintains office supplies inventory and orders new materials. Prepares and maintains office files, directories, and records to ensure proper organization and easy retrieval of documents.
