As a Supervisory Operations Support Specialist (Section Chief), you will provide technical and administrative supervision to Operations Support Specialist personnel and provide advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees on a wide range of administrative functions.
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/09/2025. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/09/2025. GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Managed and provided technical advice on a variety of mission support programs and procedures such as various personnel management liaison functions, equal employment management, procurement, budget and financial management, customer relations, travel support, training or management analysis. Planned, organized, evaluated and improved operational support program services and processes. Researched, wrote reports and provided recommendations that provide authoritative guidance on complex mission support program issues. Provided guidance and collaborated with colleagues throughout all levels of the agency to resolve problems pertaining to administrative and multi-programmatic concerns and projects. This position is located in Field Operations Directorate, Office of Field Operations, Office of the Director, National Benefits Center.
Directs and provides policy direction, setting priorities, monitoring workload, quality control, and conducting operations support oversight for administrative staff.
Serves as an expert consultant and primary program manager on center projects, initiatives, and programs.
Makes recommendations on the means to minimize costs and maximize program efficiency.
Identifies trends, problems, and best practices to create center wide solutions to shared problems.
Provides authoritative macro guidance in the resolution of complex problems or issues impacting major USCIS programs.
Provides oversight of information sharing and management systems including but not limited to equal employment opportunity, human resources, financial management, personnel, intranet and collaboration, training, emergency management and safety.
