About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Behavioral Health, Dept of BH Acute and Outpatient Svcs in Bethesda, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Health): Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychosocial evaluations and assessments; providing consultation services to professional staff concerning clinical assessments findings; and developing treatment plans for patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. License: The Clinical Psychologist position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your license with your application package.) 1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Psychology preferred; but not required.
Develop, implement, evaluate, and manage assigned health psychology service programs and activities for appropriate assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients.
Provide individual and group treatment, using various evidence-based modalities to include problem focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducational classes.
Provide consultation and liaison with interdisciplinary teams, individuals and group psychotherapy, and other clinical duties as assigned in the Health Psychology service line.
Diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological, treat mental disorders through a variety of biopsychosocial modalities and provides adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.
Assess acute mental and behavioral medicine conditions in beneficiaries.
Assess and provide interventions for individual with a wide range of chronic pain medical conditions and behavioral health factors affecting medical conditions.
Consult with pain physician providers to select, approve, and document treatment priorities.
Develop, and implement, professional development activities, coordinates departmental training on Chronic pain related topics.
