About the Position: Serve as a Mechanical Engineering Technician exercising HVAC and Fire Protection responsibilities through the performance of the following duties and having assigned responsibility for the completion of entire projects in connection with the design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, associated electrical systems to include fire protection.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; Monitor the work in progress for compliance with established requirements; Review designs for conformance with current industry practices; Utilize Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Software to design mechanical system layouts; Determine cause of deviations in test data resulting in mechanical system malfunctions; and Plan and schedule complex mechanical systems upgrades, modifications, equipment acquisition, and installation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Design, develop, and redesign HVAC and Fire Protection Systems.
Perform technical review of contractor prepared designs and specifications to ensure all requirements are met.
Identify and solve complex issues involving various aspects of installation, operations, and maintenance for HVAC control and fire protection systems based on established requirements.
Utilize automated systems to develop and program work control reviews.
Prepare designs and specifications for various mechanical, electrical, and Fire Prevention systems.
