Basic Requirement for Health System Specialist: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing data accuracy, evaluating and coordinating the health care delivery systems and operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Identify and recommend areas of improvement related to the established processes and methods used in collecting and reporting of required operating data.
Develop working relationships with medical professionals, leadership, and support staff.
Complete monthly Data Quality Review Lists and Statements for subsequent presentation to organizational leadership and external Defense Health Agency and Department of Defense auditors.
Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert for development and implementation of programs and projects that focus on improving/correcting business practices that impact data quality at various levels of the organization.
Determines appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up.
Research and determine or recommend appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact the program.
