Job Description:

You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Quality and Accreditation Office (Code 1561) Quality Performance Control Division (Code 1560) Naval Shipyard Support Office (Code 1500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience interpreting technical drawings and requirements established by military standards, NAVSEA, and locally by the shipyard or similar. Experience planning, establishing, implementing, managing, and evaluating NDT and Weld Workmanship training, qualification, and certification programs that encompass a wide variety of Nuclear/Non-nuclear, SUBSAFE, Quality, and related disciplines and functional organizations. Experience reviewing engineering instructions, procedures, and NAVSEA/Naval Shipyard Uniform Industrial Process Instructions, with the ability to develop new approaches, modify standard practices, techniques, and procedures, and arbitrate differing best practices and/or specification requirements. Experience with Submarine Material Certification Requirements Manual for the Submarine Safety Program or similar. Experience planning, administering, and executing the Certification and/or SUBSAFE Functional Audits for SSN and SSBN submarines or similar vessels. Experience in quality assurance concepts, principles, and methodology to analyze and recommend quality improvements of complex Shipyard and RMC NDT and Welding qualification program that supports critical submarine, surface ship, and aircraft carrier work. Experience with and knowledge of the functions and responsibilities of all Shipyard, Regional Maintenance Centers (RMC), and Supervisors of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) organization elements, mission, objectives or similar. You will determine/budget needs to support the NAVSEA certification program.
You will manage the NAVSEA 04 Nuclear and Nonnuclear NDT Examiner Certification Training and Programs for the certification of all Naval Activities such as (i.e., Naval Shipyards, Supervisors of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP).
You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) supporting the Nondestructive Testing (NDT) and Welding Program Managers within the Naval Sea.
You will serve as the NAVSEA certifying official for all NDT examiners in Naval Shipyards, SUPSHIP and RMC facilities.
You will attend and participate in other NDT, Welding and quality related conferences and meetings.
