To qualify for an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Experience evaluating and recommending the acquisition of IT security tools and implementing, disseminating, and monitoring the tools, procedures, and practices to protect information assets. Experience performing cybersecurity event monitoring using various monitoring tools for identification of potential incidents involving IT networks or systems. B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Serves as the cyber analysis expert for planning and carrying out assigned projects, determining approaches and resolving most encountered conflicts and providing detailed input for cyber trend analysis reports for senior executive service members.
Provides cyber analysis techniques, training, awareness, coordination of new signatures, and recommended response priorities.
Performs as the subject matter expert for detections and prevention measures and ensures such measures are fully integrated within the Incident Handling Group for their continued 24/7 monitoring and response.
Advises other subject matter experts and team leads on strategies to improve incident detection capabilities in defense of external cyber-attacks as well as Insider Threats.
Correlates data from multiple and diverse sources in order to obtain as complete and accurate of a picture as possible regarding the nature and magnitude of cyber threats to DLA.
