Job Description:
You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PSNS and IMF. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional ENGINEER, performing duties such as reading technical drawings for measurements and specifications; experience or training with statistical analysis; experience or training evaluating discrepancies between requirements and execution of shipboard work or as built conditions; experience authoring or editing written technical work. You will provide on-the-job auditor training and/or guidance to other auditors, and were appropriate, prepare certification criteria for personnel conduction or assisting in quality audits.
You will be responsible for planning and conducting quality audits, surveillances, assessments, investigations, and studies.
You will present audit and surveillance findings and observations to appropriate management.
You will maintain records of audit, surveillance, and investigation results. Reviewing the status of outstanding audit and surveillance items in their areas.
You will provide input regarding scheduled audits and surveillances.
You will provide recommendations for improvement to the Branch Manager.
You will conduct or direct subordinate personnel in the initial review of action Shop/Code responses to audit and surveillance findings to assure administrative and technical accuracy of the responses.
You will review subordinate’s work assignments for technical and administrative accuracy and providing guidance as to how work assignments should be accomplished.
You will conduct briefings for Department Heads or their designated representative to present audit and surveillance findings/analysis and results of other quality problems and concerns.
You will provide necessary actions required or recommendations to correct and close action items.
You will use professional engineering principles and theory in the evaluation of shipboard installations, materials, processes, and procedures for compliance to technical requirements.
