Job Description:

This position is located in the Chief Information Officer Organization (CIOO), Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (OCISO) at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support developing, analyzing, and implementing IT Security architecture and security engineering initiatives. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (CG-14) Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-13 level in the Federal service which includes experience managing the development and maintenance of IT and cybersecurity initiatives, products or programs; and providing secure architecture and security engineering advisory services, in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements. In addition to meeting the specialized experience, applicants must also demonstrate the following IT related competencies: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Develop and maintain standards, principles, reference models, enterprise security architecture, security capability reviews, hardening guides, security configurations, and frameworks that support Information Technology (IT) security architecture and security engineering. Apply enterprise security architecture strategy in developing the target and vision for security architecture to effectively protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of FDIC data. Apply Security Engineering principles to ensure alignment with industry best practices, compliance and relevant regulations, and effective against evolving security threats. Assess technology and IT industry security direction to determine if program changes are needed. Provide highly specialized technical advice concerning security implementation within all FDIC Information Technology solutions.
