Job Description:

You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC INSPECTOR in the of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT: I have the ability to inspect common tasks under general supervision including 1) Repairing, maintaining, and overhauling complex systems on a wide assortment of heavy mobile/weight handling equipment and specialized equipment and systems in accordance with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles; 2) Inspecting heavy equipment to diagnose defects; 3) Using precision measuring instruments for testing or inspecting mechanical systems. You will develop checklists and utilizes them as a guide for the initial, in progress, mechanical and final acceptance checklists that will cover all aspects of the product overhaul and indicate the acceptance or rejection of items and systems.
You will perform initial inspections of various products to identify required repairs to maintain, repair, and overhaul the product.
You will utilize a variety of procedural guidelines to assist in developing of applicable standards: NAVFAC P-300, Management of Civil Engineering Support Equipment ; P-307, Management of Weight Handling Equipment.
You will identify on an initial ML all parts and materials that are required to complete the repairs that were identified during the operational and diagnostic inspection of the product.
You will perform in-progress inspection of products during the repair process.
