Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, Mission Readiness Directorate, Human Capital Division, Human Resources Staffing Branch. Location is negotiable to the following locations: Ashburn, VA New York, NY Miami, FL San Francisco, CA Washington, DC Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Planning, organizing, and evaluating support services; identifying procedural issues and recommending improvements aligned to organizational goals. Verifying and assessing facts from multiple sources; examining documentation for compliance with regulations and procedures. Participating in group studies and office projects; facilitating policy/procedural changes. Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting administrative research and analytical work: creating reports and briefings, analyzing information from multiple sources, interpreting and applying policies/guidelines. Facilitating and coordinating office projects and policy/procedural changes; developing tracking mechanisms, metrics, or dashboards; and contributing to resource planning and efficiency analyses. Verifying and assessing facts and documentation for compliance with regulations and procedures; reconciling discrepancies/inconsistencies; validating data entries and records. Education Substitution GS-9: Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or a L.L.B. or J.D. for the experience required at the GS-9 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. You are required to submit proof of your claim. Education Substitution GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or L.L.M for the experience required at the GS-11 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study. If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours. You are required to submit proof of your claim. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade level and may be computed by first determining your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. This position starts at a salary of $61,111.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $96,616.00 (GS-11, Step 10) with promotion potential to $115,213 (GS-12 Step 10). The employee performs assignments of moderate difficulty requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines in an administrative specialty area(s). Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing advisory services across mission support, human resources, personnel management, administrative research, and program planning; participating in and contributing to management decisions in assigned program areas.
