Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Security Management Division, Information Security Branch, Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Developing and implementing information security policies and procedures by analyzing Executive Orders, Federal laws, and regulations to ensure compliance. Conducting inspections of information security programs by reviewing classification actions and initiating corrective measures to address deficiencies. Delivering Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) programs to employees, ensuring adherence to classification, safeguarding, and access control protocols. Analyzing and resolving complex information security issues by evaluating classification methods and developing tailored solutions. Collaborating with senior leadership and federal agency representatives by providing expert guidance on security policies and procedures. This role focuses on safeguarding classified national security information and sensitive but unclassified information managed or originated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), ensuring compliance with applicable security policies and protocols to protect the integrity and confidentiality of such information, thereby supporting national security and enhancing operational effectiveness across CBP. This position starts at a salary of $120,579.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $156,755.00 (GS-13, Step 10). This position serves as a Senior Information Security Specialist within the Information Security Branch of CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility, responsible for protecting of classified national security information and other sensitive but unclassified information originated or controlled by CBP. The role involves overseeing security programs, conducting inspections, and providing education and training to ensure compliance with federal regulations and agency standards. Major duties may include, but are not limited to: Preparing, analyzing, formulating, developing, reviewing, and implementing DHS and CBP information security policies, and standards in accordance with Executive Orders and Federal laws/regulations. Advising top level managers and subject matter experts on all aspects of the information security program. Overseeing reviews to monitor information security programs in CBP Operational and support offices. Coordinating the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs including responsibilities for resolving information security issues.
