The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Customer Support and Flight Service Center sections. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule, Administrative and Management Positions, General Supply Specialist series 2001. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes detailed knowledge of accepted supply principles, concepts and methods of one or more supply specializations. Practical knowledge of a wide range of well-established and commonly applied supply management principles, concepts and methodologies required in performing varied assignments, operations and/or procedures. Knowledge of interrelationships of supply chain management concepts and regulations, policies, and precedents that affects Military Interdepartmental Purchase Request (MIPRs). Knowledge of analytical techniques to conduct studies of supply operations and to determine effectiveness of supply support. Knowledge of supply management and inventory control systems, methods, and procedures to evaluate the impact of variables that influence the course(s) of action taken in resolving procedural issues involving conflicting program requirements. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL. B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as logistics or supply chain management. NOTE: You must submit copy of your college transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: have less than the full amount of specialized experience described in the job opportunity announcement; however and have at least one year of progressively higher-level graduate education, but have not obtained a master's or equivalent graduate degree. Therefore, have a combination of experience and education. Note: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of supply regulations, policies, procedures, techniques, and methods to include requisitioning, requirements, equipment management, inspection activities, demand processing, records maintenance, and customer service. 2. Knowledge of logistical functions, operations, systems, program requirements, and work methods. 3. Ability to research, compile, and analyze supply information and data; receive, screen, review, verify, and maintain supply documents. 4. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve issues and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. 5. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material such as regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve problems. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Decentralized Materiel Support function within the Logistics Readiness Squadron, ensuring equipment support complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Represents unit in working with maintenance support organizations to determine requirements and the capability of supply to support those requirements. Serves as the Decentralized Materiel Support Specialist for assistance on issues concerning Depot Level Reparable (DLR). Accountability of supply and equipment assets. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
