This position is located in the PFPA Pentagon Operations Center (POC). The employee is an expert for non-standard threat responses; required to analyze and assess information regarding Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear threats within the Pentagon, Navy Annex and DoD Leased Facilities.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT This position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE. Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations ( e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications requirement: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Applying knowledge of CBRN emergency response operations, planning, training and execution; and Applying knowledge of emergency responses such as National Incident Management System (NIMS) and National Response Framework; and Applying knowledge of applicable policies, regulations related to CBRN/Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) responses and operations. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR A combination of doctoral education and specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Maintains basic operational knowledge of current and emerging CBRN monitoring and detection equipment. Supports the application of local and federal response plans by referencing established guidance and assisting senior staff with preparedness initiatives. Demonstrates situational awareness by helping compile and disseminate CBRN sensor data and related mission information to appropriate stakeholders. Assists in analyzing sensor and modeling data to inform potential response actions. Prepares summaries or situational updates based on available data, supporting senior decision-makers during normal operations and planned events.
