These positions are located in Monocacy National Battlefield, Facility Maintenance Division. Performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April to September, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April
QUALIFICATIONS To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of measuring instruments Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (including blueprints reading) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Knowledge of materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The major duties of the Maintenance Worker (seasonal) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs simple and routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment and related utilities. Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing picnic tables, broken windows using precut stock, replacing hinges, latches and catches. Performs minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or soldering. Performs minor painting using brush and roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are not critical. Operates Light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work site while assisting with project.
