The primary purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles having a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 26,000, and up to 32,000 pounds on public roads (or equivalent) in a full range of traffic conditions, at highway speeds to transport cargo and operates forklifts to facilitate cargo loading/unloading.
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. IDEAL CANDIDATE: Our ideal candidate is someone with integrity who takes pride in their work, also is a TEAM player, works great with other members! Good physical stamina and strength to stand, bend, lift, and carry heavy and bulky items. Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines. Knowledge of safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. Completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training program in Cement Masonry and roofing is desired. A valid Florida driver's license will be required. Four years' experience as a Mason and Roofer or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable but not always required. An understanding of construction principles, safety protocols, and building codes is advantageous. Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks without restrictions (lifting 50 lbs. unassisted frequently). Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential qualities for this role. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications is beneficial. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance And Operations Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities. Performs work involved in the maintenance, installation, repair, and weatherproofing of roof. Following clear-cut work orders and instructions from supervisors or higher-grade worker, performs masonry task involved in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of interior and exterior surfaces and structures. Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures. Works on projects, such as building frames, rafters, concrete fonns, walls, staircases, door and window frames, interior and exterior trim, and other miscellaneous items. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and maintains tools.
