This position serves as an Maintenance Mechanic for the Natchez Trace Parkway. The key responsibility of the Maintenance Mechanic (MM) is to utilize journeyman-level skills in various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, mechanical repairs, welding, and equipment operation, to ensure the upkeep and repair of all Parkway facilities. When necessary, the MM also engages in additional fieldwork to address peak demands or specific requirements, which includes tasks such as mowing, pavement maintenance, custodial duties, and grounds upkeep. Furthermore, the MM supports administrative functions, encompassing record-keeping, purchasing activities, and asset management. The MM is endowed with the requisite authority and independence to perform the responsibilities of the position effectively and to lend support to other Parkway staff and operations as required to address peak or unique demands. Emergency call-outs are possible at any hour, 24/7.
