The primary purpose of this position is to provide executive support to the Major Command (MAJCOM) Director of Financial Mgt; to monitor the progress of subordinate organizations in meeting program objectives, goals and plans; to consolidate inputs to existing plans and programs, and to make necessary adjustments and modifications to meet the objectives of the Director.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) working with management and organization principles and theories, including standardized administrative practices and procedures common to the organization or area of responsibility, (2) applying conventional methods to gather, analyze, and evaluate information concerning management processes, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action, (3) conducting interviews with supervisors and employees to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, and work procedures. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-inĀ­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of organization missions and staff operations management concepts, principles, and methodologies. 2. Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze information to support organizational decision-making. 3. Skill in conducting interviews with supervisors and employees to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, and work procedures. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy. 5. Ability to access or locate information through the use of a personal computer and software programs. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Plans, organizes, directs and executes the activities of the organization to ensure compliance with the goals and objectives of the director. Provides analysis of various issues throughout the organization, maintains coordination, establishes and tracks suspense items, and consolidates inputs submitted from the division and branch chiefs. Performs a wide variety of administrative, analytical, and staff support. Performs day-to-day operations including: responding to requests for assistance; tasking action where possible or follow up on appropriate action with organization action officers; assists with planning, directing, and organizing functions assigned to or directed by the executive leadership within the organization. Represent's the office with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with command staff and organizations, subordinate wing-level commanders, higher headquarters command functions, or external contacts.
