You will serve as a Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic in the Public Works Department in the of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by1) Able to accomplish work in accordance with instructions; knowledge of safety regulations and procedures. 2) Ability to read and follow diagram.3) capable of lifting, carrying, and handling equipment up to 40 lbs. unassisted, over 40 lbs assisted. 4) Capable of working in both inside and outside conditions 5) valid driver's license6) capable of working independently. You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC).
You will lubricate moving parts and replaces air filters, v belts, electrical motors, pulleys, sheaves, bearings, fan shafts, etc.
You will conduct visual and audible examination of equipment components by applying prescribed test procedures and equipment, and by explorations of probable reasons for equipment failure.
You will perform maintenance, calibration, modification, installation, repair and replacement of analog and direct digital controls (DDC) systems and equipment.
You will interpret complex multi-view drawings, sketches, manufacture’s specification etc.
You will test for refrigerant leaks and uses a refrigerant recovery/ recycling station, to Environmental Protection Agency standards to safely reclaim, recycle and store the refrigerant before repairs can be made.
