Job Summary: Responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of the US economy and delivering economic outlooks and strategic intelligence to the bank. This includes evaluating macroeconomic trends, political developments, and policy changes, and assessing their implications for financial markets. The role supports the Chief US Economist and collaborates with other teams to provide timely insights. At this level, the position typically entails full ownership of one or more processes and reports and may also serve as an analytical or procedural expert representing the Economic Research Office in cross-functional initiatives or project deliverables. Major Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive analysis of US macroeconomic trends, including GDP, inflation, labor markets, and monetary policy. Monitor and interpret political developments and policy changes, assessing their impact on economic performance and financial markets. Prepare and deliver US macroeconomic reports, presentations, and strategic briefings for internal stakeholders and the bank’s clients. Support the Chief US Economist in developing forecasts and maintaining economic models. Collaborate with teams in London and Tokyo, as well as other business units, to develop integrated intelligence on the US economy and the global outlook. Take ownership of one or more recurring processes and reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Serve as an analytical or procedural expert representing the Economic Research Office in cross-functional initiatives and project deliverables. Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by Chief US Economist and senior executives. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Economics or equivalent work experience required; Master’s in Economics, MBA, or CFA preferred. 3-5 years of experience in a data-intensive macroeconomic research environment, with deep knowledge of the US economy and economic theory. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform thorough, critical analysis. Strong financial aptitude and broad analytical capability. Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, including business writing, editing, and proofreading. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Macrobond and Bloomberg data platform preferred. Experience working in a multidisciplinary, business-oriented team environment. Demonstrated ability in cross-cultural communication and adaptability to global business environments. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines. The typical base pay range for this role is between $118K - $135K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
