The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is May - October, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 31, 2026.

DUTIES: Assist journeymen in the installation and repair of plumbing lines, waste lines, plumbing fixtures, valve pumps, and controls. Sweats, glues, and joins a variety of materials together (copper, steel, aluminum, and PVC). Assist journeymen in the construction, fabrication, and repairs of various facilities using lumber, cement block, and formed steel reinforced concrete. Installs and repairs doors, windows, siding, flooring, sheetrock, and other finish materials. Operates motor vehicles, forklifts, and boats to 45 feet. Use zero-turn mowers and weed eaters to maintain park grounds on remote islands. Empties trash and recycling bins throughout the park. Removes old stumps, nonnative plants, and rehabilitate the grounds. Assist with safety measures and programs by tracking chemical usage, inputting data into the systems, SDS tracking sheets, and chemical inventory. Janitorial duties to include trash removal, and cleaning office/public spaces and restrooms. Assist HVAC and electrical mechanics with general maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of HVAC, electrical systems, and fixtures. Repair and replace damaged sections of the boardwalk located on Convoy Point and Boca Chita. Area Information Biscayne National Park is located 30 miles south of Miami on the open waters of Biscayne Bay. Biscayne National Park is in a subtropical climate, which ensures year-round sunshine. Winters here are normally dry and mild, with occasional fronts bringing wind and rain. Summertime brings hot and humid weather with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoons and mosquitoes are often present. The Florida Keys and Homestead provide medical (including hospital), banking, groceries, and educational facilities.
