Job Description:
You will serve as a Special Security Officer (SSO), the principal authority for the management and oversight of the agency's Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security program. You will ensure the protection of national security information through the development, implementation, and enforcement of security policies and procedures in compliance with Intelligence Community and federal directives.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Implementing national security policies and procedures related to the protection of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI); Managing the day-to-day operations of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF); and Preparing reports on SCI security including incidents and potential compromises. Develops, implements, and oversees the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security program across the agency, to include developing training, safeguards, and policy related to classified document control, storage, and transmittal.
Coordinates with Special Security Officers across the agency to ensure that the security of all Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) meet regulatory requirements, including physical security, access control, and accreditation.
Provides programmatic oversight ensuring individuals with access to SCI are properly indoctrinated, maintain appropriate clearances, and comply with reporting requirements.
Provides SCI security training and briefings to personnel, including initial indoctrination, annual refresher training, and debriefings upon termination of access.
Reports and investigates SCI security incidents, including potential compromises, and coordinates with counterintelligence and security offices as needed.
