About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency-National Capital Region Medical Directorate at the Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point, under the Directorate of Medicine-Family Medicine, scheduling appointments, interviewing patients to obtain reason for appointment, and maintaining customer service. Work schedule consists of an 8 hour workday, M-F, (I.e. 7:00 AM-3:30 PM; 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, or 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, 1) Scheduling appointments, 2) Preparing patients for procedures, and 3) utilizing automated systems to enter and retrieve data within the medical treatment facility. Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
Scheduling or rescheduling appointments by telephone, direct patient contact, or the request of physician.
Interview patients who request treatment and obtains information regarding type of medical problem.
Provide customer service with a calm and pleasant demeanor when interacting with patients.
Refer emergency and priority appointments to clinic nurse, provider, or to emergency services.
Process messages in the electronic health system.
Update and correct patient information data in the current electronic health system.
Answer inquiries from patients concerning a variety of medical, personnel, and administrative matters.
Request health record for all appointments scheduled and walked-in to the clinic.
Assist with sending medical faxes and processing incoming faxes when assigned.
Check patients into the current electronic health system as they arrive for appointment and complete initial administrative procedures.
Maintain adequate clerical supplies at the workstation, ensuring supplies are arranged in an organized and readily accessible manner.
