This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Service (FPS) in, Springfield, Virginia.
Specialized Experience: GS-14: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Draft and edit planning documents, position papers, policy documents, and official correspondence, including talking points and briefing materials for senior leadership pertaining to risk managment. Collaborate across organizational boundaries and/or communities to jointly address problems. Coordinate plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers to ensure cooperation and reduce conflicts. Determine appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and perform follow-up. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Management Directorate, Federal Protective Service, Springfield, Virginia. The primary mission is to prevent, protect, respond to and recover from terrorism, criminal acts, and other hazards threatening the U.S. Government's critical infrastructure, services, and the people who provide or receive them. Duties performed: Provide substantive operational support, strategic planning, and expert advice needed to support FPS mission success. Establish program objectives and performance goals; planning, organizing, and assigning work based on business needs in alignment with the capabilities and knowledge of subordinate staff. Serve as a subject matter expert on Agency risk management matters with responsibility for advising senior management on the establishment and promulgation of an Agency-wide enterprise risk/internal control program. Provide administrative and technical guidance to personnel, and other officials responsible for implementing internal control practices in accordance with risk management requirements. Evaluates and advises on organization, methods, and procedures.
