You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Emergency Services Department of NSF DAHLGREN.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, practices, and techniques applicable to fire protection elements involving fire prevention, aircraft, structural, ordinance and shipboard firefighting; 2) Training personnel in fire protection and prevention; and 3) Managing a hazardous materials protection and control program (i.e., knowledge of hazardous materials used; development of contingency plan; deployment of vehicles with specialized equipment, etc.). NOTE: Your answers must be supported by information in your resume. *** Certification Requirements: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer I, II, & III, Fire Inspector I & II, Fire Instructor III, Hazardous Material Incident Command and Airport Firefighter. You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities.
You will establish performance standards for subordinates, keep them informed of their progress, and rate their performances.
You will analyze the structural condition of a building to determine firefighting equipment and apparatus required to fight fire.
You will handle emergency situations that may arise at hazardous material fire and spills.
You will be responsible for taking precautionary measures to prevent risks in the platoon and on the scene of emergency situations.
