You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Specialized Experience/ Education GS-05: To be eligible for this position, you must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience that is in or related to this position and provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include: Experience researching and reviewing records, documents or financial accounts for resolution Experience resolving technical system and application problems/errors Experience communicating with customers orally or in writing Experience following organizational procedures using established guidelines Experience with computer systems and software applications OR EDUCATION: Completed four (4) years above high school in any field, in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of experience or a combination of experience as described above. WHAT IS THE TS - Taxpayer Services DIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Taxpayer Services Customer Account Services Electronic Products and Services Support (EPSS), Technical Services Operation (TSO), Customer Service Sections (CSS) The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. Provides telephone support to a wide range of customers with varying degrees of understanding, or who possess a professional understanding of tax law regulations relative to information returns. Provides full explanations to information reporting, information return preparation and filing inquiries initiated by customers, and through generated notices, or internally generated assignments. Provides technical information to taxpayers on a wide range of information returns, and limited assistance in other tax areas (e.g., filing, underreporting, password reset, and/or other requirements). Provides assistance and guidance to customers on a wide range of information returns and forms including, but not limited to, Forms 1096, 1097, 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, 5498, 8935,W-2G, W-2 and W-3, either electronically or on paper forms. This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-07, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-07 in as little as two years.
