Job Description:

Performs a series of Maintenance Mechanic duties: repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related fixtures and utilities, requiring various trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, roofing, painting and other related trades. Defined Season: March-December Open to first 65 applicants or until 01/02/2026 whichever comes first. Applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on closing day will receive consideration.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The major duties of the Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-09 position include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Constructs, alters, modifies or repairs a wide range of features in buildings and other facilities. Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment. Replaces lavatories and sinks, replaces pumps and water meters. Safely operates a wide variety of maintenance vehicles.
