The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional electronics engineer responsible for installation, assembly, integration, and assurance of Electronic Warfare systems, Operational Flight Programs, and Airborne Systems; This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of 8I-9GE57 (Electronics Engineers, GS-0855-12). In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING SERIES 0855. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-07: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the principles, concepts, and theories of the classified title, and the standard practices, methods, and techniques of the occupation sufficient to perform difficult, but well-precedented assignments. Knowledge of analysis, evaluation, fact-finding, and investigative techniques in order to gather data, identify significant factors, and recommend a solution from a number of possible alternatives. Knowledge of the occupation to perform studies and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate factual and procedural information clearly. OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in engineering or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; or a Bachelor's degree in engineering with Superior Academic Achievement, in order to be creditable under this provision, education must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled; or successful completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-12: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes broad professional knowledge of a wide range of electronics engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods sufficient to determine and/or execute actions for a range of assignments involving combinations of complex features. Knowledge of engineering standards and methods to formulate, execute, advise on, and explain recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and techniques and resolve a wide variety of difficult problems. Knowledge of advanced processes and practices to provide oversight and direction; to adapt precedents or existing strategies to meet unusual needs or special demands; and to prepare, present, and evaluate plans, designs, reports, and correspondence. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the next lower grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. GS-07 TIG requirement is at the GS-05 level GS-09 TIG requirement is at the GS-07 level GS-11 TIG requirement is at the GS-09 level GS-12 TIG requirement is at the GS-11 level PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. Performs system/subsystem electronics engineering work related to Electronic Warfare Systems, Operational Flight Programs, and/or Airborne Systems. Performs engineering activities related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of hardware/software products for Electronic Warfare Systems, Operational Flight Programs, and Airborne Systems support equipment. Performs analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects. Performs project management responsibilities to determine the business and technical needs of customers.
