About the Position: This position is located at Fort Riley, Kansas. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes ordering or managing a stock of surgical/medical supplies, instruments and/or equipment; and disassembling/reassembling and/or inspecting medical equipment/instruments within a sterilization department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Monitor and/or initiate supply transactions for medical and nonmedical items required to support the Operating Room, Sterile Processing Department(SPD), and Anesthesia.
Receive and verify quantity, quality and storage of medical supplies.
Review and reconcile all accounts.
Maintain files of current supply catalogs and price lists.
Serve as a Medical Supply Technician in the Sterile Processing Department(SPD).
Provide Operating Room, inpatient ward, clinics, and outside agencies with a complete range of medical supplies, instruments and equipment.
Inspect for damage a full range of reusable medical supplies, instruments and equipment from hospital ward, clinics, and Operating Room.
Package, wrap, and issue surgical supplies and instrument sets used by wards and clinics for minor surgical operations.
