Job Description:
The primary purpose of the position is to operate one or more motor vehicles, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds. The vehicles operated by this position meet the definition of a commercial motor vehicle, and the incumbent of the position is required to have a commercial driver's license (CDL). This is a Testing Designated Position and is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator Vehicle Operation Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) SCREEN OUTS Minimum Qualifications: I have performed work under close direct supervision. I have experience that demonstrates the ability to operate trucks and trailers weighing up to 26,000 pounds; properly loading and unloading various supplies and equipment. Knowledge and skilled in the operation and maintenance of heavy, power equipment (power lawn mowers, chain saws, powered weed trimmers). Able to work safely with heavy tools (axes, picks, shovels, saws, etc.). Skilled in performing routine operator maintenance and adjusting the cutting height of power mower blades. Able to safely operate these vehicles/equipment in all types of traffic and weather conditions. I have experience performing operator maintenance on all vehicles/equipment operated (e.g., monitoring fluid levels, checking tire pressure and blade replacement/sharpening). I have experience performing custodial/janitorial duties. My work is regularly check and evaluated for timelines, and for following instructions. Commercial Driver's License: Possess or are able to obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) by entrance on duty. You will perform a variety of work involving the operation of motor vehicles in support of the maintenance and repair of roadsides including roads, culverts, bridges, guardrails, etc. Operate diesel and gasoline powered motor vehicles and heavy equipment which typically have a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds; vehicles are usually equipped with air brakes. Operate vehicles, including dump trucks and trash truck, in all kinds of weather over rough terrain, in close quarters, and in heavy traffic. Duties include crack sealing, asphalt patching, refuse/recycling collection, transporting material, and loading trucks with front end loader and/or backhoe. Operate tractors with attached flail and sickle bar mowers to cut grass and brush on shoulders, ditches, and cut banks alongside park roads. Perform operator maintenance on all vehicles operated according to manufacturer and park standards. Complete minor repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment. Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, raking, cleaning drainage ditches, picking up litter, etc. SALARY: Salary does not include locality pay.
