MAJOR DUTIES: Assist journey-level, or other higher graded maintenance workers in the maintenance, repair, and construction of buildings and facilities in at least two areas such as: carpentry, painting, plumbing, and equipment. Construct, maintain and repair historic buildings and structures. Prepare and paint interiors and exteriors of historic buildings. Operate motor vehicles to bring materials to different locations. Perform electrical repairs on buildings, such as replacing outlets, switches, and fixtures. Operate equipment to load and unload materials, earth work, and other general maintenance. Removing and replacing fence posts, cutting and fastening new fence boards/pickets and rails. Tilling soil and planting grass seed; removing shrubs and small tress and planting new ones. Assisting with recurring cleaning of public and staff spaces Perform routine maintenance on building, landscapes, and trails, and makes minor repairs as needed. Area Information: Minute Man National Historical Park is located 16 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts in Concord, Lincoln, and Lexington, MA. The Park preserves and interprets the historic structures and landscapes associated with the opening of the American Revolution that lie along the route of the battle of April 19, 1775, as well as notable literary figures. Spanning 1,000 acres and consisting of 4 units, structures within the park include the North Bridge, 5.5-mile Battle Road Trail, 11 witness homes that were present at the time of the battle, extensive archaeological resources, and The Wayside, home of Bronson Alcott, Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorn, and Margaret Sidney. The park receives about one million visitors a year.
