Job Description:
This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of the Chief Information Officer.
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Providing direction and guidance to a security operations team responsible for defending information systems and technical assets; AND Managing security defense activities (e.g. maintenance of intrusion detection and prevention systems, the evaluation of security events of interest, and the reporting of detected incidents and suspicious activity to relevant stakeholders); AND Leading the development of security contingency plans, incident response plans, and disaster recovery procedures; AND Providing technical advice to leadership regarding security aspects of network and system design. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. As a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will: Evaluate the effectiveness of existing IT programs. Devise and conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs, promote awareness of security issues among management and ensures sound security principles are reflected in organizations' visions and goals, conduct systems security evaluations, audits and reviews, and develops systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures. Conduct systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews. Provide technical advice and leadership on security aspects of network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security applications and policies. Provide direction to the Security Operations subordinate team of highly technical staff, who collaborate with other OCIO enterprise architecture and infrastructure functional areas, and a diverse array of government and contractor staff.
