The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and administer the administrative support functions of the Group, to ensure that day-to-day operations comply with the policies of the Commander, and to support the Commander with a variety of administrative functions and taskings.
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, located here. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have, or within 120 days, will have at least 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NH-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). General experience with a variety of administrative functions and taskings; Planning and organizing functions and activities. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: Have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: that provides knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of an Executive Administrator. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to various administrative support functions to ensure that effective and efficient executive administrative support is provided. 2. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods/techniques and data base administration to conduct studies, analyze findings, and make recommendations on a variety of issues and problems of a factual or procedural nature. 3. Practical knowledge of the organization, programs, missions, and functions of the Group to determine appropriate administrative support. 4. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems of a factual or procedural nature. 5. Skill in written and oral communications to prepare correspondence, reports, studies, briefings, etc. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for this position possesses a strong understanding of administrative policies, consistently applying their knowledge to task requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Serves as the Executive Administrator for the Commander and, as such, as a liaison between the Commander's office and subordinate organizations regarding all administrative management functions. Accomplishes a variety of staff studies and reports concerning Group support effectiveness and efficiency to provide data required in current and future plans and operations and in response to requirements imposed by higher headquarters. Reviews and evaluates complex responses from various Group elements prior to review or signature by the Commander for adequacy, clarity, and completeness of reply. Personally prepares substantive correspondence, speeches, briefings, and other external communications for the Commander. Represents the Group at meetings and conferences concerning plans, special events, projects, etc.
