The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Analyzing financial and/or budgetary relationships to develop recommendations; Conducting internal audits and/or responding to external audits; Using financial management systems to enter data, track funds, and/or develop reports; Evaluating changes in program and/or funding plans. OR Education: Possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR have an LL.B. or J.D., in a directly related field OR a combination of the above-described graduate education and specialized experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. This Budget Analyst provides budget administration and financial management duties which facilitate complex analysis and reviews functions and specific operational and analytical duties for administering the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) financial management program including budget, internal controls, accounting and financial reporting functions. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Budget Analyst support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located in Brooklyn, New York, focusing in the areas of budget administration, financial management, and accounting and financial reporting functions. Typical work assignments will include: Performs a variety of routine and recurring financial management activities. Assists in formulation, justification, and execution of the district budget. Provides reports on specific topics in budget submissions, obligations, funds availability, agency program direction, and costs of operations. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
