This position is a Supervisory Land Management Law Enforcement Officer, GS- 1801-14 working for the Division of Refuge Law Enforcement, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Only experience and education obtained by 01/09/2026 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification [GS-14] One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience may include: 1) Providing law enforcement oversight, technical guidance, and/or leadership for a regional office or field station; 2) Developing strategic goals, objectives, policies, or work plans for a refuge law enforcement program across multiple geographic locations and field stations; 3) providing program direction in the areas of investigations, violations, interrogations, enforcement of fish and wildlife, conservation laws, or task force operations; 4) developing long range budget projection plans and making determinations for allocations of funds for resources, operational costs, or training requirements; 5) developing law enforcement training plans, scheduling, or attendance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. As a Supervisory Land Management Law Enforcement Officer your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Directs and manages the region's refuge law enforcement program, ensuring protection of natural, cultural, and human resources through investigations, arrests, and enforcement of federal laws. Provides strategic planning, coordination, and evaluation of law enforcement activities at regional and field levels; oversees operational and training budgets to align with program goals. Supervises and supports Patrol Captains and Law Enforcement Specialist, ensuring effective oversight, technical assistance, and law enforcement support to field officers and stations. Leads all aspects of law enforcement operations, including investigations, surveillance, evidence handling, court preparation, and interagency coordination. Represents the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) law enforcement program in regional and national workgroups, task forces, emergency response, and collaborative initiatives with federal, state, and non-governmental partners.
