Job Description:

The AOC is accepting applications for a Photography Aide summer internship that offers skill enrichment and experiential learning while promoting careers in the public service. This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Curator Division, Photography and Technical Imaging Branch.
All students must be U.S. Citizens. A person who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence and is seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B); A person who is admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157 or is granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. 1158 and has filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; Students must be at least sixteen (16) years of age by June 30, 2026, and currently attending a college or university. Students should be enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s program in Liberal Arts, Photography or Film, Archives or Information Science, Conservation or Historic Preservation. Note: Participation in the Summer Intern Employment Program is limited to a total of three years. Candidates are eligible to participate no more than three years, collectively or consecutively, in the Summer Intern Employment Program. Candidates who have reached the three years in the program will be deemed ineligible to participate this calendar year.
Photography Aide The student in the position will perform a variety of general support duties as a Photography Aide in an office providing support for architectural, construction, historic preservation, and communications photography. In this position, the intern(s) will receive assignments from the staff of the office to which they are assigned. In addition, the student will assist photographers in operating cameras, controlling lighting, and post-processing digital photographs. The digital photographic processing may include still, motion/video, and/or 3D images. The subject matter covered by the Branch includes building construction, maintenance, and renovation; landscape; public events; fine art and architecture. Additionally, the position will have a variety of archival processing work to accomplish involving several interesting collections of photographs, historic and contemporary. Responsibilities may also include reviewing and normalizing data in our enterprise photo database.
