As a Preservationist, you will perform the following duties: Performs a variety of journey-level preservation trade work needed to build, maintain, restore, and/or preserve historic structures and landscapes. Performing plastering duties to include mixing, applying, and finishing plaster surfaces. Performing roofing duties to include locating leaks, selecting the correct repair methods, and installing new roofs. Identifying, retaining, and preserving historic roofs, paintings, carpentry, and plastering from the restoration period, including special finishes and colors. Removes damaged paint and finishes. Constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness. Constructs and repair building frames, rafters, concrete forms, walls, staircases, door and window frames, interior and exterior trim. Performs final finishing of cement and concrete. Fabricates and repairs simple metal items and ferrous, ferrous-alloy, and nonferrous metal parts. Operates one or more types of heavy equipment (e.g., graders, tractors with bulldozer or angledozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments) to push, pull, pile, or load materials such as sand, gravel, earth, and coal.
