This position is part of the Government Publication Sales, Government Publishing Office in Laurel, MD.
To qualify for the Distribution Facilities Manager, PG-2030-11, you must meet the following requirements: Specialized experience at the next lower grade level PG-09 or GS-09 level includes performing work that involves the following comprehensive knowledge and experience: A) Managing the physical receipt, custody, care, and distribution of material, including the selection of appropriate storage sites, material handling equipment, and facilities; Consulting with the Operations Manager in determining which projects to initiate, develops deadlines, and identifies staff and other resources required to carry out an assignment; Managing a variety of duties involved with warehousing functions of consumable materials, supplies, equipment, shipping and receiving of customer orders from order web pages, to include call/contact center operations. or B) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related or Have a combination of specialized experience from 'A' above and related graduate education as listed in 'B' above that equals 100% of the total requirement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (01/12/2026) to be considered.
Conduct and direct major studies involving current operational problems that directly affect order processing, distribution, and storage operations.
Collaborate with the Supervisory Supply Specialist, Supervisory Supply Technician and the Supervisory Customer Service Specialist to ensure the activities are coordinated and completed in an effective and timely manner.
Plan, establish and implement workflow methods and processes, make recommendations on current workflow processes, practices, and procedures, while advising subordinate staff on the implementation of new and improved procedures.
Follow and stay abreast of any changes to regulatory guidelines that impact day-to-day operations and inform the Warehouse Manager of issues which require immediate attention or resolution.
Monitor the receiving, shipping, warehousing, distribution, call center, federal customers web order pages, mail and distribution processes, and maintenance operations.
