The major duties of the Maintenance Worker position include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist journey-level, or other higher graded maintenance workers under general supervision in general landscaping and grounds maintenance, basic carpentry, simple electrical installations or repairs, basic plumbing work, and painting interior and exterior surfaces, and perform a variety of janitorial services. Assists in the performance of building maintenance work including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting. Mow and trim lawn areas, remove weeds, sweep walks and other common areas, remove trash, prepare landscaping beds, make minor repairs to buildings and structures. Perform basic carpentry, simple electrical, basic plumbing, basic janitorial services and general landscaping and grounds maintenance. Make simple measurements using tape measure and square. Follow written instructions to perform tasks. Follow manufacturer's instructions for use of power tools and safety. Use simple hand tools and other power tools. Prepare surfaces for painting, select and use a variety of cleaning agents, mix and thin painting materials and select appropriate lumber size and type.
