To qualify for a Supply Technician, your qualifications must include: Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include: Conducting physical inventories and location surveys Investigating stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances or SDRs Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: Incumbent may on occasion climb ladders, lift objects, crawl, enter restricted areas. Work requires handling items weighing up to 25 pounds. If moving or lifting over 25 pounds, will request assistance and/or utilize lifting devices. Will be required to climb ladders and work on safety pallets. Must obtain a valid license to operate Materials Handling Equipment (MHE), to move, stock and restock materials.. Work Environment: Work is usually performed in an office setting however, extensive research could require visits to warehouse secured areas, or outdoor locations. Work may be performed in hazardous areas where chemicals, poisons and low radioactive material (such as luminous dials and gauges) are stored; also in refrigerated areas with 42-45 degree temperatures and small freezers where normal temperature is 4 degrees below 0.
Performs causative research to resolve critical inventory discrepancies.
Performs extensive research on inventory discrepancies and imbalances identified through warehouse denials, customer complaints/inquiries, physical inventory counts, location surveys, special inspections, etc.
Determines the causes of discrepancies and makes or coordinates appropriate adjustments to correct inventory records and documents.
Processes Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs), through research and resolution.
Performs Shelf-Life updates and Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS) on stock as required.
Participates in evaluating and analyzing trends related to inventory discrepancies.
Assists specialists in the analysis of automated systems and the implementation of new applications.
May operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and stock selectors to move material.
