This announcement is open to current or former federal employees in permanent competitive service positions and specific hiring authorities. To qualify for the position of Information Technology Specialist, at GS- 2210-11/12, you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below. Basic Requirement: Information Technology (IT)-related experience, obtained through paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, demonstrating each of the following competences: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the basic requirement and to be qualified at the GS-11, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service providing Information Technology technical and analytical assistance. Examples of specialized experience include: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; installing and configuring new or modified hardware and operating systems and applicants software; and assisting in network monitoring and management for organization-wide account maintenance and software/hardware updates. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. All academic degrees must be in one of the following fields from accredited and pre-accredited institutions: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. In addition to the basic requirement and to be qualified at the GS-12, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service, defined as providing technical and analytical assistance involving one or more of the following IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's office (USAO): IT Systems/Network and Telecommunications Administration; Systems Security; Intranet-Internet; Customer Support; or Policy and Planning. The duties and responsibilities for a GS- 2210-Information Technology Specialist-11/12 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintaining responsibility for testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance, and management of network systems used to transmit information. Ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of system networks and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Planning, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and managing internet, intranet, and extranet activities, including technical management of websites. Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and training in response to user requirements.
