A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. As a Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operating), you will perform the following duties: Operates large, complex riding lawn mowers that have multiple or independently controlled cutting decks, and/or specially designed mowers that operate on slopes. Operates large, complex lawn and garden tractors with various specialty attachments such as gardening attachments, trenchers, snow plowing or removal equipment. Operates equipment such as lawn edging equipment, trimmers, brush cutters, and brush chippers. Operates hand tools such as shovels, picks, pulaskis, digging bars, and rakes. Maintains buildings, grounds, roads, and trails. Loads and unloads supplies and materials from trucks, trailers, and dollies. Digs ditches and trenches with pick and shovel. Performs minor operator maintenance on light duty motor vehicles such as pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, and crew cab pickup trucks. Operates vehicles to transport personnel, supplies, materials, or equipment and tools, or to tow equipment.
