This IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and is part of the CA 195th WG.
IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-12: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: serving as an Information Technology Specialist providing Cybersecurity; Experience ensuring systems are operated and maintained within security directives and procedures; Experience utilizing extensive knowledge of all areas of automation security to establish operating standards and procedures for the installation Information Security Program; Experience coordinating requirements with the responsible personnel and tracks suspense for completing required actions and reports virus problems in accordance with established procedures. THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION. The primary purpose of the IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-12, is to serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and ensuring all protection needs are met. Reviews national, DOD and other policies, program proposals, operational and strategic plans, and identifies issues requiring tier two actions or inputs. Based on these reviews, provides technical recommendations for changes to the security posture to the Wing Information System Security Manager (ISSM). Prepares and presents applicable briefings and reports to high-level managers. Evaluates and assesses vulnerabilities of classified network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators. Updates hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Provides input to the ANG Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP) procedures for system disaster recovery. Serves as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation. Provides advice and assistance regarding security aspects of processing, storage, retrieval, transmission, and access of classified and unclassified information. Leads or serves as a member of the configuration control board for applicable installation facilities/networks. Analyzes equipment and software reliability and suitability for vulnerability assessment utilization. Conducts analyses of classified network usage, hardware and software capabilities, ineffective practices or procedures, equipment shortcomings, and other relevant factors. Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of DoD classified information systems to identify associated vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs. The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military. In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organization, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilization functions; or the position requires a skill or competency that necessitates technical expertise or professional qualifications that cannot be readily found in the military structure of the state military force.
