This position is located in the Law Enforcement Directorate, Pentagon Operations Center (POC). The POC serves as the Pentagon and Mark Center's Public Safety Answering Point. The POC mission is to observe, receive, validate and react to information regarding indications of potential threats to public safety, physical security breaches, or compromises of infrastructure integrity at all Leased Facilities within the NCR and provide a safe work environment for the DoW community and its visitors.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the positions being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in 1) analyzing and interpreting data and providing contacts and other first responders with situational awareness of CBRN monitoring, incident response, crisis and consequence management; 2) applying working knowledge and understanding of the technology and capabilities of all CBRN monitoring and detection systems; and 3) developing performance standards; identifying developmental and training needs of employees. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Oversees and coordinates the activities of the various shift personnel (military, civilian, and contractors) that assess and monitor the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) events at or within the boundaries of the Pentagon Reservation, Navy Annex and DoW Leased Facilities. Serves as a Supervisory Shift Operations Specialist and manages the work of one of four shifts working 24/7 overseeing the operations of the POC. Provides input on DoW /Office of Secretary of Defense generated reports for action or comment on agency policies and programs. As supervisory Shift Operations Specialist, plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets, and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
