This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Central Virginia VA Healthcare System (CVHCS) in Richmond, VA , in Environmental Management Service (EMS), Inventory & Equipment section.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Supply/Inventory/Administrative 60% The incumbent must notify his/her supervisor when operating levels of linens is too low to meet demands. The incumbent participates in physical inventory of all hospital linen and may be required to perform periodic "Spot Check" inventories as needed to track specific stock needs. Performs counts of items in designated areas, completes inventory forms, reconciles discrepancies in accordance with established procedures. The incumbent is also responsible for making certain that there is an adequate supply of scrubs and disposal and cloth cubicle curtains to cover weekends and holidays Incumbent is required to track new stock, Fair Wear and Tear (FWT), and order requests using various tracking spreadsheets. Incumbent must be able to communicate with customers and will need to have an acceptable/thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. The incumbent must be able to ensure records maintained, enters data into several Linen Management data bases. Submits descriptive listing of all items and reports linen shortages and damaged linen losses to supervisor. Laborer Support 25% The incumbent is also responsible for the replaced the cloth and disposal cubicle curtains throughout the medical center, Central Virginia VA Health Care System, outer building, CBOC and Health Care Center (HCC). The Incumbent must be able to operate large warehouse vehicles on federal, state and county roads and highways within the enterprise such as cargo trucks, stake trucks, box trucks and jumbo tugs and cars does not exceed 26,000 pounds. The Incumbent must have a valid operator's license and have the necessary skills and knowledge to operate and preform daily duties with electric carts, electric and manual pallet jack. The Incumbent must be able to operate pallet jacks, side loaders, dollies, and other appropriate moving equipment to complete assigned jobs Laundry Machine Operator Support 15% The incumbent will also be a backup Laundry Machine Operator will be responsible for sorting soiled linen, pre-soaks-stained textile as needed, accurately weighs wash loads to ensure washer/extractors are correctly balance, washed soiled and unloaded clean textiles. Ensures washers and dryers are utilized per the manufactures recommendations and makes certain unloading or overloading does not occur.
