THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a FACILITY DESIGN AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST-Title 5 OBO, Position Description Number T59004P1 and is part of the WI JFHQ, Wisconsin National Guard.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-1601-12 level, you must have at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade that provides experience, education or training applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in designing projects or planning assignments. Experience using well -established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc. Experience administering, coordinating, and verifying design work and projects performed by Architect and Engineering firms, characterized by large funding costs and long duration times. Experience serving on State or Federal Architect and Engineer selection boards. Candidates have experience acting as a project manager for improvement design and construction projects. Experience in gathering information from multiple sources and recommending a course of action. Experience reading, interpreting, and providing guidance based on laws, rules, and regulations. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
Administers, coordinates, and verifies design work and projects performed by A&E firms, characterized by large funding costs and long duration times. Prepares and conducts briefings for all levels of government. Provides guidance on the development of building environmental, energy, security, and communication systems both for programmed new construction and for retrofit of existing buildings. Coordinates with appropriate state agencies to obtain required approvals and permits for construction projects. Administers, plans, coordinates, and directs the activities of subordinate personnel.
