Job Description:

You will serve as a MOBILE EQUIPMENT METAL MECHANIC SUPV in the EXPEDITIONARY MAINTENANCE CENTER of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: 1) Using and maintaining hand and power tools, shop equipment, and precision metal cutting and welding equipment; 2) Planning and organizing work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission; and 3) Instructing and directing sequence of operations and methods employed by subordinates. You will establish deadlines, priorities and work plans to subordinate staff.
You will direct, assign, and distribute work for all employees which involve vehicle body repair, sheet metal fabrication, welding, analyzing and interpreting job requests or work orders, etc.
You will ensure efficiency of work operations by assessing processes and procedures or issues.
You will approve and certify time for subordinate employees.
You will work with subordinate staff to establish and implement performance plans.
You will recommend personnel actions to higher level management: awards, reassignments, change to lower grades, removals, promotions, etc.
You will ensure education in, compliance with, and practice of security, safety and environmental directives in all work areas for subordinate employees.
You will ensure subordinate staff is equipped with proper tools, materials, and equipment they may need to perform the duties of the trade.
