Job Description:

You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NAVAL ARCHITECTURE) in the STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING and PLANNING DIVISION, ENGINEERING and PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
GS-0802-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience in performing or directing planning, installation and testing of equipment and systems involved during a ship's depot and intermediate level availability. * Experience preparing and reviewing correspondence, such as Job Summaries, Task Group Instructions (TGI), Deficiency Logs (DL), Deficiency Reports (DR), Technical reports, estimates, and status reports. * Experience providing sequence of work and manning requirement information to project and Engineering and Planning Department managers. * Experience negotiating with other engineering codes, production shops, project personnel and ship's force support personnel. GS-0802-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience with the principles and theories of the physical and engineering sciences, generally, and the techniques, principles, and practices of naval architecture/structural (civil) engineering technology. * Experience negotiating with other engineering codes, production shops and ship's force support personnel. * Experience supporting the Structures Engineering and Planning Division Head in negotiating the project with Managers in off-yard administrative and technical activities. You will be responsible for planning and carrying out the work, coordinating with others, and resolving problems as they occur.
You will evaluate project objectives and identify most economical and efficient procedures for performance verification.
You will negotiate tasks of the project with the implementing Navy agencies and contractors, and reviews, directs, integrates and redirects, as necessary, the execution of the task to ensure that the objectives are met.
You will coordinate with other engineers and engineering technicians to ensure that all system areas are covered, and that areas of overlapping responsibilities between technical disciplines receive proper consideration.
