About the Position: Serves as a Health Technician in the Department of Anesthesia at Madigan Army Medical Center, providing comprehensive anesthesia support for surgical procedures ranging from routine operations to complex, high-risk, and trauma cases. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. A recruitment incentive may be authorized.

Basic Requirement for Health Technician (Anesthesia): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes sterilizing medical equipment; preparing and initiating intravenous fluids and ordering, stocking, and maintaining medical supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Assist anesthesia providers with performing quality control checks and documenting them to comply with Joint Commission (JC) and Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB) guidelines.
Assist the anesthesia provider in the operating rooms during anesthesia induction and recovery from anesthesia by anticipating the needs of the anesthesia provider based upon real time changes in hemodynamic function.
Observe patient’s vitals and visual assessments for such changes in condition as labored breathing, depression, convulsions, hemorrhage, shock, and anxiety.
Remove dirty anesthesia equipment and replaces it with clean equipment in between anesthetic and surgical procedures.
Responsible for first-level maintenance on equipment such as oxygen analyzers, arterial pressure lines, electrode wires on EKG machines, and various other equipment that needs batteries.
Perform Sterilization and Sanitation Procedures.
Responsible for keeping the anesthesia supply and workroom, all operating rooms, and outside of operating rooms are areas neat and clean.
