As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1 year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. Performs custodial/janitorial duties: Cleaning, sanitizing, emptying trash, and restocking public restrooms. Cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash and recyclables. Scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using heavy (industrial type) power scrubber and buffer. Washes walls using powered wall washing machines and/or by hand. Vacuums/cleans rugs, carpets, etc. using heavy vacuum cleaner. Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments. Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment. Occasionally works on ladders and scaffolds to change light bulbs, wash walls, etc. Keeps shop areas clean and in order. Sweeps and wet mops floor and removes various liquid and solid wastes, spills, etc. On a regular and recurring basis operates light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, flatbed trucks, 5-yard dump trucks, etc.) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work site located in the park. Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal positions includes all the benefits of permanent employment but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectees will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectees are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. Non-pay status varies upon position which will be set at 1 pay period. Position number 308 - non-pay anticipated from beginning of November to mid-November.
